By default we will create you a public forum that you can use to chat with members, and recruit new members. But we will also create you a private club forum if you want one.

We will also create an entry on the Table Warfare gaming club directory if your club is not already listed. Please note that the directory is currently only listing UK and Ireland, however...

I am changing Counterspell (will issue an errata for Fightin Fungi at some point). The way it is written causes some problems. Here is the new text:

Counter-spell
Tags: Battlefield. LoS Required
This spell is cast as a free action. As soon as an enemy mage successfully casts a spell, the counter-spelling mage performs a Q roll on 1,2, or 3 dice (his choice), using any successes to cast the Counter-spell. He must have a LoS on the mage whose spell he wants to counter. Roll a die for...

I don't understand the question. It is a trait like other spells and is subject to the same limitations as other spells.It is also pretty expensive, point-wise.

I think one should not be able to parry a shield rush.

Also, shouldn't parrying while prone be penalize/prohibited?

it's been debated (in my original intention Prone targets could not Parry at all) and in the end we decided that yes, prone targets should have a modifier. I altered the text:

Parry does not protect from Flails, missile weapons or spells (including spells with the Melee tag), or the Headbutt and Shield Rush Traits. A Prone model has -1 on his Parry rolls, and may turn a Recoil or Knockdown to a No Effect, but a Kill or Gruesome Kill may not be reduced.

This will still let models with Expert...

All non-flying models in play, including the caster, must resist the spell or be knocked Prone. Each large tree or building in play has a (power) in 6 chance of collapsing as well. Treat collapsed structures as rubble or linear obstacles as appropriate. Any model adjacent to a large tree or adjacent/inside a building takes a Free Hack with a C equal to the spell’s power.
Backfire: Caster is knocked Prone.

Models leaving a melee or appearing into a melee because of the Switcheroo spell do NOT receive a Free Hack and do not enjoy an Ambush bonus. The caster may NOT be one of the two affected figures. In other words, you cannot cast switcheroo on yourself in order to backstab someone. The only case in which a mage is affected by his own Switcheroo is when the backfire effect is caused.

models caught in an avalanche (backfire of snowstorm spell) may not be attacked. It's pretty obvious but the rules did not state it.
Also, we can assume a Fireball, a Wall of Fire or Flaming Touch spell will immediately free the snowbound character.

I modified the text for Mind Control spell to make clear that you can't control more than one creature at a time, and that mind controlled creatures count as out of action while they are being controlled.

If I am reading this correctly, these are ostensibly the same trait.

Will of the Gods
Whenever this model performs an Activation or Reaction roll on two or more dice, you may re-roll a single die .

vs.

Battle Hunger
Whenever a model with Battle Hunger makes an Activation or Reaction roll on two or more dice, you may increase the result of single die by 1 . Apply this rule after rolling the dice

My probability math is a little rusty, but I don't think there's a huge difference between the...

I do understand the somewhat subtle probability that makes Battle Hunger slightly better for a Higher (4+) Quality model as opposed to Will of the Gods or Drilled.

The only gripe I have is that we now have three traits that do very similar things, and it might be difficult to pick which one is best for a given profile.

Drilled: +1 to any one die on activation.
Battle Hunger: +1 to any one die on activation or reaction when rolling two or more.
Will of the Gods: Re-roll one die when rolling...

So I was noticing that the rate trait is described twice both at the beginning of the trait chapter and then alphabetically. Do you really need it twice? You could probably get rid of the first one and save some space.

Please post in this thread any major blunder you find in the rulebook, so we can send a copy that is as clean as possible to the editor.

Things we already known:
1) capitalization is inconsistent throughout the book. Editor will fix that.
2) ratmen profiles are missing - still working on them
3) there are some blank pages - that's where the map of Norindaal and a general description of the world will go
4) NO scenarios - there was no space. The book must run at 88 pages as we will be using...

Long Bow - Up to 1 x Long +1; 2 x Long +0; 3 x Long -2
Crossbow - A Crossbow may fire an attack at +1 over Long range, at +0 over 2 x Long and at -2 at 3 x Long
Unerring Aim - The model halves range modifiers when shooting: -2 becomes -1 and -4 becomes -2.

Since the range modifiers for these bows are different from the standard range modifiers am I correct in that unerring aim would only affect the 3x Long penalty making it -1?

there is no clear answer because it depends on the scenario.
The rules are written for two sides, so we can use the convenient definition of "friend" or "foe".
So, in the 3 sides scenario you were playing - were the two other sides both your enemies? I guess so, and in that case, I would allow Switcheroo to be used.

90% of players will play 2 sided battles so I prefer not to confuse the rules and tell those who play with more sides to use their common sense based on the...

I have added/amended the following text on Long Reach

Long Reach weapons are at -1 in cramped situations (battlements, dungeon corridors, tunnels, openings in a room, thick forest) where the length of the weapon interferes with the character's movements. However, enemies attacking an otherwise unengaged model with Long Reach lose any Mounted or Higher Elevation bonus they might have.

Great trait with flavor and game mechanics, but I'm not entirely sure how its meant to be used in building profiles.

Would it make sense to use it for non-warrior specialist type characters? Would it fit in to say, a 'Wizard' kind of character, who is a weak and unskilled hand to hand fighter?

Also, does the change to the damage against Prone opponents affect only Melee attacks, or does it affect Ranged attacks as well?

It would normally kill on beating, no need tio double, just like any other character.
The idea is that Puny characters cannot take full advantage of prone targets in melee

Composite Bow - It has Long range but its last range stick is 1 x Long + 1 x Short.

Could you clarify what "last range stick" refers to?
Does it mean:
Long Range = (180 + 75)
2x Long Range = (180 + (180+75))
3X Long Range = (180 + 180 + (180+75))

Fearless Fearless models do not test Morale for Gruesome Kills and are immune to the effects of Terror. They test Morale for other occurrences (loss of a Leader, warband under 50%).

Combat Master: A Combat Master enjoys the +1 from Dashing or from an Ambush bonus only on his first attack.

I think the +1 from Dashing is for the legacy Dashing in the original SOBH, can you confirm?

Spells with the Area tag can potentially affect every target in a circular area. Place a marker on the table where you want the spell to go off. Place the end of a measuring stick of the appropriate length on that spot to determine who is caught in the radius. Every character whose base is even partially within the area is hit by the spell and may be affected.

Does this mean a short area spell has a radius of 75mm, a diameter of 150mm, or is the diameter 75mm, as the cone is wide....

Yes the summoned warrior can be a Personality model.

The points are in addition (but remember that you paid points for the spellcaster, and that in most cases the spellcaster will be weaker than the summoned warrior)

Read the Summon tag on p.30: If the summoned creature is hit by the Unsummon spell, or if the caster goes out-of-action or moves off the tabletop, the creature immediately disappears.

So yes, you are given some little point advantage, but you are running a risk of losing TWO...

The lizardman roster looks good, especially the different grades of lizardman, which should allow players to fit the various models in their collections in easily (I have lizardmen ranging from about human child size to ogre size). I note that the "classic" SoBH lizardman is now a "veteran lizardman"!. I did wonder, though, if a couple more profiles could be added to reflect some widely available figure types.

Remember that each race will have their own army book -- I have given a lot of space to Lizardmen here only because they are, basically, the main antagonist of the humanoid races on Norindaal, and their own book is not going to be published anytime soon.

Added under Javelin:

A character may perform a single javelin ranged attack per turn. A character could move with 1 action, throw the javelin with a free action, move in contact with an opponent with his second action and then perform a melee attack.

yes, all shooters are assumed to have at least one large knife or club for melee combat, and to automatically draw the weapon when they are contacted in melee or when they contact enemies in melee.

Long reach: that is being discussed, but I am leaning on the idea that Long reach does negate cavalry and higher ground modiofiers, it certainly does from an historical perspective.

Maybe there was a previous version of the rule that I wrote for the (still in development) spear and shield rules.

Unerring Aim: I have to cross reference it with all the ranged weapons and see what happens. Probably as you mention it may be useful only on the third stick.
