I amended it like this:

Unerring Aim
The model halves range modifiers when shooting: -2 becomes -1 and -4 becomes -2. If the weapon uses its own range modifiers (e.g. longbow, crossbow, composite bow), just reduce the third range stick modifier by 1.

there is no clear answer because it depends on the scenario. The rules are written for two sides, so we can use the convenient definition of "friend" or "foe". So, in the 3 sides scenario you were playing - were the two other sides both your enemies? I guess so, and in that case,...

It would normally kill on beating, no need tio double, just like any other character.
The idea is that Puny characters cannot take full advantage of prone targets in melee
